Elizabeth Murray serves as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for Polaris Capital Management, LLC, in coordination with her role as Vice President of Boston Investor Services (BIS). Ms. Murray became CCO as of January 2022, taking the helm from Lucy Goreham, President & CEO of BIS, who held this position since 2008. Ms. Murray began working with Polaris in 1998, just three years after Polaris engaged BIS to serve as the firm’s mid and back office operations team. Ms. Murray was instrumental in on-boarding and integrating Polaris’ growing assets under management, size of account base and the subsequent increase in operational support.
In 2007, her role gravitated to compliance and since 2010 she has worked exclusively in this practice. As compliance requirements increased and became more complex, Ms. Murray and the BIS team worked in conjunction with Polaris to build and maintain the compliance program in place today. During that time she facilitated various transitions to automated compliance systems. Today, she oversees and administers the compliance program for Polaris, which includes daily monitoring of pre- and post-trade compliance, complying with all domestic and international regulatory requirements, client compliance reporting and the monitoring and testing of the program. She is well versed with mutual fund compliance, and has had extensive exposure to firms that claim compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS).
